To understand and promote Phase 1 of Letters and Sounds (synthetic phonics programme)

  • To explore the principles, skills and terminology which supports effective practice related to letters and sounds
  • To become familiar with all aspects of letters and sounds phase 1 and their vital role in the pre-school years
  • To build confidence in collaboratively planning and delivering play based activities which promote children’s phonological development
  • To explore ways in which enabling environments (inside and out) can support children’s progress in early literacy skills
